On December 18, 2023, a welcome reception for H.E. Ambassador Cai Weiming was held at the Heritage Park Hotel. Around 200 guests including Hon. Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare, H.E. Speaker Patterson Oti, Hon. Deputy Prime Minister Manasseh Maelanga, Hon. Foreign Minister Jeremiah Manele attended the reception.

“China-SI relations become a role-model of the relations between China and Pacific Islands Countries. By establishing the comprehensive strategic partnership featuring mutual respect and common development for a new era, it opened the new chapter for the bilateral relations.” said H.E. Ambassador Cai.

He further promised that, as a good friend, good brother and good partner to Solomon Islands, China will adhere to the principle of mutual trust, stick to the pursuit of win-win cooperation, propel the momentum of people-to-people exchanges, consolidate the friendship of the two countries, and forge a brilliant future of the China-SI relations.

Hon. Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare expressed his warm welcome to H.E. Ambassador Cai Weiming, and reiterated that Solomon Islands will firmly upholds the One China Principle, respect China’s territorial sovereignty, and continue to work with China as a strategic partner. “We look forward to more productive engagement between the two countries. I believe the transformative partnership will strengthen the people-to-people diplomacy, commercial relations, and enhance stronger bilateral ties between Solomon Islands and China.” Hon.
